Many musclecar enthusiasts prefer the updated sounds that a newer stereo/CD unit provides, but either don't want to cut up their existing dash or want to keep the indash radio "looking" intact and original. The following companies will replace the old internals of your stock radio with up-to-date innards, with AM/FM stereo/CD, etc. The following companies (advertisements from a recent issue of Hemming's Motor News) offer this conversion, however I cannot personally vouche for them. Keep in mind that this is NOT an inexpensive operation...prices can range from $400-$700 or more.

  • Radios converted. Elliott's Radio, 610-495-6360
  • Radio Servicing - FM Conversions, AM/FM Stereo conversions. Classic Auto Radio Service, 800-880-1409
  • Radio restorations and conversions. Mike Hagen Antique Radio Repairs. 215-547-7145
  • Radio service, conversions. Tayman Electrical, 941-371-8924, www.gate.net/~gtayman
  • Radio service, conversions. George Zaha, 248-393-1732 (evenings)
