DID YOU KNOW?

The '70-'81 Camaro and Trans Ams came with a 1-1/4" front sway bar and it will bolt on a '64-'72 GM A-body. These will greatly improve handling when combined with polyurethane bushings and end link kits. Note that the mounting bolts use an Allen key, as the brackets are wider. However, be aware that simply installing a larger bar with no other changes, while it will reduce roll, will also make the car understeer worse than it does now. You must install both front and rear bars that work together. The A-body cars (as with most American cars of the period) were designed to understeer, since this was felt to be safer in the hands of an inexperienced driver. Installing a stiffer REAR bar will make the car much more neutral in handling. Unfortunately, there are no easy swaps for the rear bar, only expensive aftermarket parts.
