Here's another view of the 455 being put into place, using my home-built engine hoist. Wasn't the best-engineered thing, but it got the job done. And the price was right. I only had about $35 invested into it's construction, and it could be disassembled for easy storage.

OK, here we go! The 455 is getting hooked up here. I installed a 4-row radiator to keep this behemoth cool. When I was planning this project, I almost decided to remove all the A.C. equipment, but instead chose to keep it, figuring that with the horsepower this engine was going to turn out, I could spare a few to run the A.C.

...And we've arrived at a semi-finished product!
The correct louvered hood is currently in storage and will be installed when the car is ready for the paint booth.
I put this car into storage at a friend's farm in 1995 after doing the work you've seen on the previous pages, where he parked it in a garage next to his Corvette. Unfortunately, not long after that, he got married, and of course the new wife had a car, so mine was rolled outside, unknown to me until just recently, when I started getting the itch to get this finished up and went out to check on it. So for four years it sat out in the sun and rain and sleet and snow, and that definitely took it's toll. Also taking it's toll were the damned field mice (again!!), who did a number on the interior, so as I sit here typing this, I'm thinking about just starting over from scratch again, this time doing a complete disassembly (frame-off) and doing it right! All the mechanicals are still in good shape, aside from being rather dusty and dirty, so at least I don't have to worry about that.

I plan to paint this midnight blue with silver metalflake, and silver accents. I also want to tint the windows and possibly lower it about 2 inches. I'm also toying around with the idea of adding a Ram-Air system with a shaker scoop from a mid-'70s Trans-Am.

I've advertised for shop-space to rent on a long-term basis, which will allow me to do it right this time around. I'll let you know how this goes.
